Problem

Company: Wizarts Foundation is a non-profit organization in Uganda specializing in communication for development (C4D) projects and programs.

Situation: Wizarts Foundation was running a 2 year project called SuperWoman, aimed at keeping girls in school. With so many activities happening under this project, a beautiful interactive website was required to be able to show the progress and impact of the project to the development partners as well as document in text, video and audio, the inspiring journeys of the school girls benefiting from the SuperWoman project.

Task: In 2017 Wizarts Foundation hired me as a Software Developer and Consultant to develop a website that would work as online documentation of the SuperWoman project and also enable online voting and automated reports tallying. The project involves girls in producing their own radio show which is then broadcast on local radio stations in their community. It is these radio shows that are then put on line and voted for by the public.

Solution

Action: Together with Wizarts Foundation representatives, we brainstormed together, iterated through various prototypes and phases and built a web application called SuperWoman.ug.

Results: Currently Wizarts Foundation easily and effectively reports to their development partners about the SuperWoman project as all their work is documented online and voting reports are tallied instantly. This website has given the project great visibility within the donor community and also contributed to the credibility brand growth of Wizarts Foundation, as an organization working to impact communities through media.
